Hardy!

Last week we looked after Hardy, the cat next door, when his owner was on holiday.  He’s a dear little thing and was very easy to get along with. Despite neglecting my Drabbles, I did feel moved to keep a little diary about his adventures during the week so that on her return, his mistress could feel reassured that he had been well looked after. What she thought about his partying, complete with photographic evidence is any one’s guess but I think she was pleased to have the little memento. And, I suspect, he was delighted to have her home!

Siddums

Siddums came to us over 15 years ago as a tiny kitten, half the size of his brother, easily recognisable as the “runt of the litter”.  After careful nurturing, he grew into a fine ginger puss, and despite a lifetime of respiratory problems, Sid lived life to the full, chasing butterflies, sun worshipping and being adored by his entourage. He was a hugely affectionate cat, seeking out laps to lie on or crawling up the chests of his chosen target, gazing lovingly into their eyes. Sadly, Sid died this week, peacefully, in his sleep.  Our splendid boy will be missed

Brian

We had to have our beautiful cat Brian put to sleep on Saturday after he suffered a saddle thrombus, resulting from a blood clot.  He was hale and hearty upto the last moment when his back suddenly became paralysed. Although it was upsetting to see him distressed, thankfully, we were at home so we could get him to our lovely vet immediately. We fussed and talked to him as he slept away peacefully.  He was a much loved cat who lived his life as a cat should, free to come and go, eat at leisure and sleep in the sun

Autumn is round the corner...

There are clear signs that it’s becoming autumnal.  No, it’s not the colour changes to the leaves on the chestnut trees or that Dr Who is back on TV.  It’s much simpler; the cats are back in the house.  During the summer, the sun seekers occupy every warm corner of the garden like golden pools of sunlight. But, once the temperature drops, they are to be found indoors, curled up on any available seat or cushion, preferably where it’s warm. Their life is incredibly simple; food, love and a comfortable place to sleep.  I admit to a degree of envy!
