Parting is such sweet sorrow....
Canada is a wonderful country; tolerant, diverse and with an outdoor and sporting lifestyle that would suit our family very well. So, whenever we visit, our thoughts invariably lead us to the “If only we had discovered Canada sooner” conversations. But sadly, according to Canadian immigration rules, we’re too old to make that move, and in my case, the cost of health insurance would now be astronomical. However, being positive people, after allowing ourselves that indulgence, we remember to count our blessings as we are very lucky, enjoying happy, fulfilled lives in the UK. But leaving Canada is always bittersweet.

The Green-Eyed Monster!
Jealousy isn't something I ordinarily succumb to but being
entirely honest, seeing Miss Glis's photos of an increasingly snowy Whistler, I
admit to a slight stirring of the green-eyed monster buried deep in my heart!
Andy and I would love to be in Canada, carefree and excited about the winter
ahead. And maybe we could if we were genuine risk takers; but we're not. A
winter hill walk is risky as we get nowadays. Work, pensions and the UBAP
(undemanding but aged parent) are all factors keeping us (not too reluctantly) captive
in Carlisle. So enjoy and have fun, Nerea

Oh Canada
Miss Glis posted a comment on Facebook this morning:
“We’ve finally arrived [in Whistler]!!; So excited!!”
The latter part of that posting must be the understatement of the year! Despite her and Alex’s understandable nervousness over going on an adventure to another country without the parents, it’s another fantastic opportunity for her and Alex and one we are wholeheartedly behind as Canada is an amazing country. In our experience, it’s culturally closer to the UK than the USA with an attractive social culture that is welcoming, progressive and celebrates diversity. As a place to work and live, it’s hugely attractive.
